Let Her Speak announces three-session “Women’s Capital Series”
Let Her Speak, the Knoxville-based nonprofit founded by Catherine Porth, has decided to help address the lack of women investors in the start-up and small business space and the lack of funding going to women-owned businesses.
Starting later in June and continuing into August, the organization will be hosting a three-session series under “The Women’s Capital Series” banner. Each offering will be further divided into two parts: a discussion for women entrepreneurs seeking outside funding and another focused on women interested in investing in women-led start-ups.
The series kicks-offs June 28 at the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center (KEC), 17 Market Square. The sessions are open to ANY WOMAN who is curious about what it takes to become an investor or are needing to raise funds to grow their business. The series will conclude with a happy hour in September during “Innov865 Week.”
The inaugural topics are:
- Entrepreneur Session 1: “Finding the Right Funds for Your Business” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. featuring: (1) Richard Dapaah, KEC’s Executive-in-Residence who worked directly with the Knoxville Chamber to create an access to capital strategy for entrepreneurs and small businesses in the region; and (2) Erin Reece, Founder of Bear Financial Solutions, where she works with Founders and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) to help them reach their version of financial success. Breakfast and coffee will be provided.
- Investor Session 1: “The Basics of Becoming an Investor” from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. will feature Sue Malone, Founder and CEO of Strategies for Small Business and a regular judge during the annual “Startup Day” in Knoxville. Lunch will be provided.
Registration information for either or both sessions can be found here. Dates and topics for the July and August sessions will be announced later.
